Funding Allocated For Newry Restoration Project
Funding of £860,000 has been allocated for a restoration project in Newry, Co Armagh.
The Public Realm scheme is supported by the Department for Social Development with a contribution of £662,596, with additional funding of £200,000 from Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
Work will be carried out in Margaret Street, Marcus Street, Upper and Lower Hill Street. It will include the installation of new kerbing, footways, shared spaces and road surfacing in natural stone paving, along with new street lighting and furniture.
The design of the scheme was prepared by Edwin Shipway Consultants who were appointed by Newry and Mourne District Council.
The contractor is due to be appointed in September.

New Police Station Opens In Co Down
A new police station in Downpatrick, Co Down, has officially opened. The new station was developed to replace the Irish Street PSNI Station. The new Downpatrick PSNI Station is located on the northwest corner of the old Downshire Hospital on the Ardglass Road.

Road Works To Get Started In Belfast
The Department for Regional Development will start work on a number of junction improvements in Belfast city centre next week. The improvements on Grosvenor Road/Durham Street and Hope Street/Great Victoria Street are part of the Belfast On The Move Transport Masterplan which will give higher priority to public transport, pedestrians and cyclists.

Police not treating body find as 'suspicious'
Police have said they are not treating the death of a man in Co Down as suspicious. The body of the 36-year-old man was found at a house in Sandy Street, Newry, at about 2.30pm on Tuesday. He had not yet been named on Wednesday afternoon.
