NAMA To Answer Question Over Northern Loan Book Sales

The National Assets Management Agency (NAMA) is to appear before a the Irish parliaments Public Accounts Committee (OAC) amid controversy surrounding the sale of its assets in Northern Ireland.

In Ireland, Independent TD, Mick Wallace, has claimed that a lawyer working for Tughans, the law firm involved in the sale of NAMA's Northern loan book, established a secret bank account in the Isle of Man.

Using Dáil privilege, Mr Wallace went on to claim that the bank account contained €9.8m, which was "earmarked for an unnamed Northern Irish politician".

According to a report by the Independent.ie, the money has since been recovered from the account by Tughans, who have reported the matter to the Northern Ireland Law Society.

The Independent.ie claim that NAMA will appear before the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee on Thursday.

Companies Registry, which is located in Chichester Street, Belfast, holds information on limited companies in Northern Ireland including annual accounts, assets and details of directors.
