Employment Minister Launches NEET Youth Forum
The NEET Youth Forum has been launched by Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry.
The Forum is a regional network of young people who have experienced difficulties in accessing education, employment or training.
It is based across five hubs in Northern Ireland where members can share experiences with each other, identify and discuss issues relevant to young people.
At the launch of the NEET Youth Forum, Minister Farry also unveiled a new Mapping Tool. This is an interactive information database that maps current eduction, employment and training provision throughout the country.
The NI Executive said young people of the NEET Youth Forum were "instrumental" in building and testing the tool.
The launches were made at the Skainos Centre in East Belfast.
Minister Farry said: "In launching the NEET Youth Forum today, I continue to focus on the objectives to ensure helping and supporting the most vulnerable young people in our society gain opportunities to succeed."
The Minister said the Forum links closely to the NEET Strategy Forum, which recently received £108,000 in funding from the Department for Employment and Learning.
Minister Farry added: "The Mapping Tool is an innovative solution that will greatly assist young people access relevant information on training and employability services in one central point."
Chair of the NEET Strategy Forum, Jo Marley, said: "This genuine offer to participate with Government has been the driving force behind our work and progress. I look forward to the future developments."

Over 12% Of NI's Young People Not In Education, Employment And Training
An estimated 24,000 16 to 24-year-olds are currently not in education, employment or training (NEET), according to the latest reports from the Northern Ireland Statistics & Research Agency (NISRA). This represents over 12% of NI's young person population, more than 3% higher that the UK average.

Young people need to voice their opinions loudly, clearly and more often, the Chairperson of the Northern Ireland Youth Forum has said. Speaking at the organisations regional launch in Newry on Friday, Youth Forum Chairperson Conor McGinn said his group had always had a strong input from young people in the Newry area.
