Man Arrested Over Attack On William Frazer

Police have arrested a man following an alleged attack on William Frazer.

The incident occurred in the Tandragee Road area of Markethill at around 7pm on Sunday.

Mr Frazer needed hospital treatment following the attack.

A 60-year-old man was arrested in Dungannon on suspicion of common assault and threats to kill.

He has been released on pending further enquiries.

Danny Kennedy, Ulster Unionist MLA for Newry & Armagh, said: "I am horrified to hear that someone would call at William Frazer's front door and physically assault him. It is a cowardly and despicable thing to do. I have been in contact with close members of his family to express my concern at the incident, and to wish William a full and speedy recovery.

"This incident, involving as it does the personal safety of a high profile individual requires urgent and full investigation, and I am also aware that the family are very unhappy at the slow PSNI response in attending the scene."

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
