Shop Robbed In East Belfast

Police are appealing for help to trace a man in connection with a robbery at a shop in east Belfast.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, entered the premises on the Belmont Road shortly after 4pm on Monday.

He went behind the counter and began banging on the till, shouting at a staff member to open it. He made off on foot with a small sum of cash.

Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson said: "We believe the suspect, who was around 5' 10" tall and wearing jeans and a white stripy t-shirt, had been in the store a short time before the robbery but had left before returning to commit the crime.

"He is understood to have remained in the area outside the shop after his first visit and we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area who may have seen him or anyone who might be able to identify him."

The shop was also robbed on Sunday 14 June.
