Planning Approved For Open Cast Mining Operation To Be Extended Underground
The green light has been given for an existing open cast mining operation in Omagh to be extended underground.
The permission for the mining of gold, silver and lead includes approval for a further 15 years of work at the operation in the Cavanacaw area.
The underground works within the existing mine site area will extend to a length of 600 metres and up to a depth of 350 metres. The proposed extension will include the progressive restoration of the above ground site to ensure the protection and enhancement of landscape and habitat over time.

Police have raided a number of properties in Belfast that are suspected of being used as brothels. According to reports, a small number of people have been arrested and a number of people, believed to be victims of human trafficking, have been rescued.

£150,000 Bridge Project To Start In Co Tyrone
Transport NI and contractors FP McCann are to begin a £150,000 bridge strengthening and widening project in County Tyrone. The work, at Ballnamullan Bridge, Farmhill Road, Killyclogher, includes precast extensions to the existing narrow masonry arch bridge that currently forms a constriction for vehicles using the Farmhill Road.

Operation Encompass Extended To More Schools
The PSNI has announced the extension of Operation Encompass – which sees police sharing information with schools where there have been instances of domestic abuse involving a child – to schools across the Southern and South Eastern Trust areas.
