Enterprise Minister Brings NI Year Of Food To The Netherlands

Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Jonathan Bell is promoting the 2016 Northern Ireland Year of Food in the Netherlands.

Speaking to Dutch Tour Operators in Amsterdam, the Minister said: "The Netherlands is an increasingly important market for tourism to Northern Ireland.

"Food tourism already generates £350million per year for the local economy and the 2016 Year of Food will help to showcase the great food, produce and hospitality here.

"I like to think that food tells a story of Northern Ireland's culture, heritage, people and landscape. It reflects and delivers a sense of 'place' for a visitor. In fact you could say it is our Place on a Plate.

"Preparation for the 2016 Northern Ireland Year of Food is already underway. Working groups are currently being established with representation from various government departments, local government and the private sector to ensure its success."
