Drop In NI Unemployment Figures
Unemployment figures have dropped in Northern Ireland, according to government statistics.
Between January to March this year the unemployment rate was 6.2%, above the 5.5% UK average, the Northern Ireland Labour Force Survey revealed.
Enterprise Trade and Investment Minister Jonathan Bell said: "I look forward to continuing the work in ensuring the Executive collectively supports a business environment that is attractive to inward investors and encourages locally owned companies to grow,” said the DUP minister.
"Although we have seen a slight increase in the monthly unemployment rate, the annual decrease in both the unemployment rate and the number claiming unemployment related benefits portrays a more positive picture than a year ago.
"The Northern Ireland unemployment rate is above that for the UK, however it continues to compare very favourably to the February 2015 rates for the European Union (9.8%) and the Republic of Ireland (9.9%)."
Minister Bell is also urging local business to explore all opportunities for growth.
