NI Election Results Announced

The results of the elected 18 MPs to Westminster have been announced following an overnight count.

The DUP won eight seats, Sinn Fein took four, the SDLP won three, the UUP took two and one independent.

The results were:

• Belfast North - DUP - Nigel Dodds

• Belfast West - Sinn Féin - Paul Maskey

• Belfast East - DUP - Gavin Robinson

• Lagan Valley - DUP - Jeffrey Donaldson

• West Tyrone - Sinn Féin - Pat Doherty

• North Down - Independent - Lady Sylvia Hermon

• Fermanagh/South Tyrone - UUP - Tom Elliott

• North Antrim - DUP - Ian Paisley

• South Antrim - UUP - Danny Kinahan

• East Antrim - DUP - Sammy Wilson

• Foyle - SDLP - Mark Durkan

• East L'Derry - DUP - Gregory Campbell

• Strangford - DUP - Jim Shannon

• Upper Bann - DUP - David Simpson

• South Down - SDLP - Margaret Ritchie

• Newry and Armagh - Sinn Féin - Mickey Brady

• Mid Ulster - Sinn Féin - Francie Malloy

Former DUP mayor admits electoral fraud
Dessie Stewart, a former DUP mayor of Coleraine, has admitted six charges of electoral fraud. The charges relate to the last general and local government elections in May 2005, when Mr Stewart was elected to the post.

Historic meeting between Adams and Orde is 'useful'
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams has described the first ever face-to-face meeting between the Sinn Féin leadership and the Chief Constable of the Police Service for Northern Ireland as "useful".

Chief Constable apologises for 'manner' of police raids
PSNI Chief Constable Hugh Orde has made an apology for the manner in which the raid on Sinn Féin's Stormont office was carried out. The Chief Constable said that he had reviewed footage of the raid and that with hindsight the Friday raid on the Stormont Sinn Féin office should have been conducted differently.

Paisley expresses 'shock' at IICD declaration
DUP leader Ian Paisley has expressed his "shock" at information given during discussions with Independent International Commission for Decommissioning (IICD) chief General John de Chastelain. Dr Paisley requested the meeting following yesterday's announcement that the IRA had decommissioned all of its weapons.
