Pipe Bomb Thrown In East Belfast
Residents had to be evacuated from their homes after a pipe bomb was thrown into a garden in east Belfast.
At around 3.40am an object was thrown into the garden of a property at Island Street.
Police believe two men on a motorbike threw the viable pipe bomb device.
Police and Army bomb officers attended the scene.
A motorcycle was recovered later at Clandeboye Street.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Viable Pipe Bomb Found In North Belfast
A viable pipe bomb has been found in north Belfast, police have confirmed. Police and army bomb experts discovered the device in the garden of a house in Shore Crescent on Monday. The pipe bomb has been removed for further examination. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Weekend Bomb Attacks Condemned
A spate of bomb attacks over the weekend has been condemned by the First and deputy First Minister and parties across the political spectrum. A police patrol was attacked with a pipe bomb in County Tyrone on Saturday. A security alert began in the Ballycolman estate, Strabane, at about 20:25, following news that something had been thrown at police.

A number of people were evacuated during a security alert in the Bogside area on Wednesday morning after the device was thrown at police on Tuesday night. The device was confirmed as viable during the alert, which closed Charlotte Street, Barrack Street and the Lecky flyover.

A pipe bomb has been thrown at police in L'Derry. The incident happened after a bonfire was set alight on the Lecky Road on Monday night, 15 August. A number of residents also had to be evacuated from their homes during a security which ended shortly after 3am. Union jacks and Sinn Fein election posters were also burned on the fire.
