Police Appeal Over Murder Of Matthew Shirley

The police have been granted extra time to interview two men and a woman over the murder of 69-year-old Matthew Shirley in Ballymena.

His body was discovered in the Drumtara area on Tuesday 28 April.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Dickson is appealing to anyone who may have seen Mr Shirley between 9am on Monday 27 April and 5pm on Tuesday 28 April to contact the police.

Police investigating the murder of Ballymena woman Shirley Finlay, have today reissued their appeal for information. The 24-year-old woman’s body was discovered in a car park in the Mount Street area of Ballymena town centre on September 19. She had been strangled.

A Polish man has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of 24-year-old Shirley Finlay in County Antrim in September. Henryk Gorski, 49, whose address was given as Hill Street in Ballymena, has denied the charges.

Shirley's body was discovered wrapped in a duvet in a car park in the Mount Street area of Ballymena on September 19.

28-Year-Old Jailed For Shining Laser Beam At Police Helicopter
A 28-year-old man has been jailed for 4 months for shining a laser beam at a police helicopter in January this year. Melvin Joyce admitted endangering the aircraft's safety during an incident in January of this year when he directed a laser at it from the Dunmore area of North Belfast on 21 January.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
