Police Appeal For Missing Newtownards Woman

Police are appealing for information after a woman went missing from Newtownards.

Elaine McDowell, 51, was last seen on Tuesday on the Old Shore Road at around 12.45pm.

She is described as 5'3" in height with brown hair. She is believed to have been wearing a brown coat with black trousers.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Police have issued an appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of 25-year-old Mark Sheridan, who is currently unlawfully at large. Sheridan, who was serving a sentence of 2 years and 2 months for Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm was released on licence from prison on 19 May 2021.

Police Cancel Appeal For Missing Omagh Man
Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.
