Two Women Attacked In West Belfast Car Hijacking

Two women have been attacked by a gang of men during a car hijacking in west Belfast.

The women, in their 50s, were sitting in a Vauxhall Astra in McDonnell Street at around 1.30am on Friday.

A gang of four men approached the car, opened the doors, assaulted the women and ordered them out of the vehicle.

They drove away in the direction of Cullingtree Road.

The car was later recovered by police in Quadrant place.

The women received minor injuries and were very badly shaken.

Police hunt for hijacking gang
Detectives both north and south of the border have launched a manhunt after a gang went on a hijacking spree, causing injury to a number of people in the process. The hijackings are understood to have started at around 4am on yesterday morning, when police received reports of a burning car being discovered in the Newcastle area of County Down.
