North Belfast Security Alert Declared Hoax

A security alert in north Belfast has been declared a hoax.

A number of homes had to be evacuated during the alert which began just before midnight at Voltaire Gardens, off the Whitewell Road, on Thursday.

Bomb disposal experts examined the suspicious object and the alert ended at around 2am.

On Tuesday night, a pipe bomb was left at a house in the same area.

A bomb alert in Newtownabbey has been declared a hoax. PSNI have described the security alert as an "elaborate hoax". The M5, was closed in both directions from Hazelbank to Doagh Road, on Tuesday night. All roads have re-opened.

Residents Evacuated In North Belfast Alert
Residents have been forced to evacuate their homes in north Belfast following a report of a suspicious object in the area. The homes in Clifton Crescent were evacuated after the report of an object in the area on Monday afternoon. An army bomb squad has been tasked to the scene and the area has been closed to traffic.

North Belfast Device 'Elaborate Hoax'
Homes were evacuated in north Belfast on Sunday following the discovery of suspicious object. Stanhope Street was closed as Army bomb experts examined the device, it was later declared an "elaborate hoax". The alert lasted for several hours, but residents were eventually allowed to the return to their homes, and the street was opened to traffic.

North Belfast Security Alert An Elaborate Hoax
A security alert in north Belfast today was an elaborate hoax. Police were alerted after a suspicious object was found at a property on Upper Meadow Street on Monday. Officers from the army bomb squad attended the scene and carried out a controlled explosion on the suspicious object. After tests it was declared an elaborate hoax.

Security Alert In North Belfast Was An 'Elaborate Hoax'
A security alert in north Belfast was an "elaborate hoax", according to the police. A number of families had to be evacuated from their homes on Monday night at around 11pm, after a suspicious object was found in the Antrim Road area of the city. The families returned to their homes at around 3am on Tuesday.
