Sinn Féin's Arder Carson New Lord Mayor Of Belfast

Sinn Féin's Arder Carson has been elected as the new Lord Mayor of Belfast City Council.

Mr Carson, who represents the Upper Falls, will take up the post from 1st April, replacing the SDLP's Nicola Mallon.

The DUP's Guy Spence has also been elected as the new deputy mayor.

Brian Kingston Appointed New Lord Mayor Of Belfast
DUP Councillor Brian Kingston has been appointed the new Lord Mayor of Belfast. He is taking over from Sinn Féin's Arder Carson and was handed the chains on Wednesday, 01 June. He said: "It is a great honour for me to be selected for the position of Lord Mayor of my home city.

New Belfast Lord Mayor elected
The new Lord Mayor for Belfast has been elected. Pat McCarthy from the SDLP, is the third from the party and the fourth nationalist Lord Mayor to be elected by councillors and he last night received backing from all parties, except Sinn Fein.

Sinn Fein's Deirdre Hargey Elected New Lord Mayor
The new Mayor of Belfast has been elected. Sinn Fein's Deirdre Hargey will take up the role and Alliance Councillor Emmet McDonagh-Brown has become the deputy Lord Mayor. Cllr Hargey said she will be engaging in every section of society.

Major Ice Hockey Officials From Boston Visit Belfast
Many major ice hockey officials from Boston are in Belfast this week ahead of the Friendship Four tournament taking place at the SSE Arena in November. The Inspection Team for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) games are in the city today, 09 October, and tomorrow.

Belfast's New Mayor Starts Duties
Belfast's new Mayor has taken over duties, overseeing the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations as his first official act. DUP councillor Gavin Robinson, 27, stepped into the post early after outgoing mayor Niall O Donnghaile, of Sinn Fein, vacated his office in order to avoid the royal celebrations and Queen's visit.
