Audio Visual Systems To Be Installed On Metro Buses

New audio visual information systems are to be installed on the Metro bus network in Belfast.

Transport Minister, Danny Kennedy, launched the implementation, and the installation programme is due to be phased in during the 2015/16 year.

The first phase will go live on Wednesday 25th March on the Upper Newtownards Road and the Ormeau Road. It will involve all Metro buses being fitted with audio visual systems which will include on board audio announcements and visual displays advising the passenger of their next stop.

The systems will also be introduced at key bus stops on the Metro network advising passengers via an audio announcement of the arrival of the next bus.

The roll out of the installation programme follows a successful pilot project of audio visual systems on the Castlereagh Road Metro route in 2011.
