Man Arrested After Being Hit By Car During Alleged Hijacking

Police have arrested a man after he was hit by a car during an alleged hijacking attempt in Belfast on Monday evening.

The 23-year-old stepped in front of the car with an imitation gun on North Street at around 8.30pm.

He was hit by the car and is being treated in hospital with a suspected broken leg.

The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted hijacking, possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances and disorderly behaviour.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

'Agitated' Man Arrested After Hijacking Car In Dunmurry
A man has been arrested after he stole a car and drove repeatedly through electronic gates of a car park in Dunmurry. The incident happened in the Millfort Mews area at around 11.30am on Thursday, 10 August. The "agitated" man is believed to have demanded car keys from several people on the street before attempting to enter some houses in the area.

Investigation Launched Following Suspected Hit And Run In East Belfast
An investigation has been launched following a suspected hit and run collision in east Belfast. A woman and a young girl were knocked down at a pedestrian crossing on the Newtownards Road at around 8pm on Wednesday, 10 January. The black car failed to stay at the scene and made off in the direction of Dundonald.
