Investigation Launches Following Distraction Burglary In East Belfast
Police have launched an investigation following a distraction burglary and an attempted distraction burglary in east Belfast on Thursday.
Detective Sergeant Kenneth Leckey said: "At around 3pm, a man attempted to gain entry to a house in Knockwood Park in east Belfast, claiming to be there to check the water supply. The elderly female resident refused the man entry and he made off from the house on foot. A second incident was reported at Chesham parade, also in east Belfast, at around 4.25pm. On this occasion, three men called to the home of an elderly man, and entry was gained to check the water supply. A number of items were later found to be missing from upstairs in the house."
One of the men involved was described as being aged in his 50’s, around 5'7" tall, of slim build with grey hair. The man wore a grey jacket and spoke with an Irish accent.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a report of an assault at licenced premises at the Rathfriland Road area of Dromara. Detective Inspector Bell said: "Shortly before 10:10pm on Friday 15th December, it was reported that an altercation occurred at a bar in the area following three men refused entry to the premises.

Man Dies In Portadown Road Crash
An 18-year-old man has died following a collision in Portadown. The crash happened on the Dungannon Road between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, 08 November. The road has been re-opened. Elsewhere, a man, aged in his 30's, has died in a road collision in Co Antrim.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Co Fermanagh man suffers broken nose in robbery
A Co Fermanagh man has suffered a broken nose after being assaulted by two men at his home in Enniskillen. The 65-year-old man was confronted by two men who forced their way into his home on Sunday. They then assaulted him before robbing his home. It is understood that a sum of money was taken during the robbery.
