Pharmacist Pleads Guilty To Illegal Supply Of Prescription Medicines

A pharmacist has pleaded guilty to the illegal supply of prescription medicines, including a range of controlled drugs, from his chemist in Armagh.


Maurice Currie, 45, of Portmore Road, Lisburn, pleaded guilty to a total of 12 charges of illegal supply involving large quantities of medicines over a five year period between January 2009 and September 2013. The drugs illegally supplied included diazepam, tramadol, dihydrocodeine and Oxynorm.

Mr Currie was remanded on continuing bail to be sentenced on Friday 17th April 2015.

Man Charged With Terrorism Offences

A man is due to appear in court today, Friday, charged with terrorism offences.

The man, 44, has been charged with possession of articles likely to be of use to terrorists and engaging in preparatory acts of terrorism.

The charges are in relation to a bomb found on Sloan Street in Lurgan on 18 October 2013.

Two Men Arrested On Suspicion Of Cultivating Cannabis

The police have arrested two people on suspicion of cultivating cannabis in Ballykinler, Co Down.

Detectives raided a house in the Commons Road area on Thursday morning.

Two men, aged 55 and 22, are being questioned by the police.

A number of items were also seized during the raid.

A pharmacist has been sentenced to one year in prison for the illegal supply of prescription medicines. Maurice Curry, 46, from Lisburn, pleaded guilty to illegally supplying large quantities of medicines, assessed at 875,000 tablets, over a five year period, from his pharmacy in Armagh.

The drugs haul, worth several thousand pounds, included veterinary antibiotics and other veterinary medicines intended for the treatment of large numbers of farm animals.
