Over 30 People Arrested On St Patrick's Day
Over 30 arrests were made on St Patrick's day, the police have confirmed.
The youngest of the 33 arrests was a 13-year-old boy. He was arrested in the Donegall Square area on suspicion of causing danger to a road user. He was released and given a discretionary disposal.
Offences for the others arrested included assault, possession of drugs, robbery, burglary and criminal damage.
Inspector Rosie Thompson said: "Our duty is to keep people safe. Throughout the day we had a visible police presence across the city. We had upwards of 15,000 people who came and enjoyed the family atmosphere. Unfortunately there were a small number of individuals who ignored our advice and chose to engage in anti-social and criminal behaviour. This could lead to them to receiving a fine and a criminal record.
"The Police Service of Northern Ireland was just one of a number of partner agencies involved in the delivery a successful St Patrick’s Day across the City and I would like to put on record my sincere thanks to all of those involved in the operation."
