Newry Business Accepts €100 Toy Bank Note As Payment
A toy €100 bank not has been accepted by a business in Newry.
The note, made by the Early Learning Centre, was accepted as real money, leaving the business €100 down as well as the price of the goods.
The PSNI's Newry & Mourne Facebook said: "If you work in a cash handling job please take 5 seconds to check all notes you are accepting, the first check would be look at the thing! The second would be to swipe a counterfeit detector pen across it, you can buy these online for pennies. Then consider the feel of the note.
"Clearly no checks were done on this note and that business is now 100 Euro down plus the value of the goods it was used to 'pay' for! Isn't it as well the £ is pretty strong against the Euro!"

Villier's Accepts It Cannot Be 'Business As Usual' Over PIRA Claims - Dodds
The Secretary of State accepts that it cannot be "business as usual" over claims about the Provisional IRA, according to the deputy leader of the DUP. Mr Nigel Dodds was speaking after he attended a meeting with Theresa Villier's over the status of the PIRA following the murder of Kevin McGuigan in east Belfast earlier this month.

Ulster Bank Note Shortlisted For International Award
A recently launched Ulster Bank note that features the work of Lurgan-born astrophysicist Dame Jocelyn Bell-Burnell has been shortlisted for The International Banknote of the Year Award, alongside notes from places like Macau, Barbados, Egypt, Peru, Indonesia and Pakistan.

The Department for Infrastructure has announced the withdrawal of a highly contentious Planning Advice Note (PAN) over its "confusion and uncertainty". The Department has withdrawn the 'Implementation of Strategic Planning Policy on Development in the Countryside', which was issued on 2 August 2021.
