Woman Bailed Following Stabbing Attack

A woman, who was arrested in connection with a stabbing attack in Newry, has been released on bail.

The man who was injured in the assault is believed to be in a stable condition.

He was transferred from Daisy Hill Hospital to the Royal Victoria Hospital where he underwent surgery.

The woman was bailed pending further police enquiries.

Virus closes hospital beds across province
Hospitals in Northern Ireland are struggling to deal with the effects of a common virus which has left people waiting on trollies for beds and caused a severe backlog in surgery. The virus, which affects patients and staff, comes as hospitals throughout the province struggle to cope with an increased number of patients because of winter illnesses.

Woman 'Stable' After Falling From Cliff At Cavehill
A 20-year-old woman is in a stable condition in hospital after she fell from a cliff at Cavehill in Belfast. Emergency services attended the scene after the woman is believed to have fell from Napoleon's Nose on Wednesday, 23 November. It is understood the alarm was raised at around 2.30pm.

Woman Found Unconscious On Co Down Road
A woman has been found unconscious on a road in County Down. The woman, aged in her 50s, was discovered on the Sheepland Road at around 4.30am on Sunday. She was taken to hospital where she is believed to be in a serious condition.

Paramedics Reveal Ambulance Service Strain
It has been reported that some patients waited more than four hours to be seen at the Ulster Hospital on Monday night. One paramedic told the BBC that at one stage there were no beds in the hospital and those in need of medical attention were left on stretchers in a corridor.

Essential local hospital improvements now possible
Minister for Health and Social Services and Public Safety, Bairbre de Brún has announced that essential equipment in a number of local hospitals will be upgraded or replaced. The Minister unveiled a range of investments for improvements in hospital services and equipment totalling some £4.5 million.
