Schools Forced To Close Following Snowy Conditions
A number of schools in Co Tyrone and Co L'Derry are closed today (3 March) as a result of snow and ice.
More than 40 schools have been closed, with a number of school bus services cancelled.
Heavy snow has fallen in a number of areas, including Maghera, Sion Mills and Limavady, while conditions on the Glenshane Pass is causing difficulty for motorists.
Trafficwatch NI has warned motorists that icy conditions should be expected on all roads this morning, with snow showers affecting a number of routes, particularly in the north and west.
All main routes were salted last night, with further salting underway this morning. They added that all main routes are passable with care, with motorists advised to leave additional time for their journey and to exercise caution.

Cut In Number Of Subjects Post-Primary Schools Have To Offer
Education Minister Peter Weir has cut down the number of subjects post-primary schools have to offer to pupils under the Education Framework. From September 2017, changes to the Entitlement Framework will result in a reduction of the specified number of qualifying courses to 21 at both Key Stage 4 and post-16 from 24 and 27 respectively.

A number of primary schools in Northern Ireland have received further "malicious calls". Pupils and staff at Kilmaine Primary school in Bangor, Co Down, were evacuated and other schools have also been affected.

The PSNI have confirmed a number of schools across Northern Ireland have received "malicious communications". The news comes following reports pupils and staff have been evacuated from Bloomfield Primary School in Bangor. Police said there is no information to suggest the incidents are "terrorist-related" however investigations are ongoing.

Number Of Recognised 'Specialist Schools' Increase
A further 10 facilities are to be designated as specialist subject schools from this September - although funding may not yet be available to carry the new status through. This will bring the total number of such specialist establishments to 44 across Northern Ireland.
