Lorry in fuel tank spillage
Police are appealing for information after a steel fuel tank fell from a lorry in Newry last night.
The incident occurred at the Clogue Roundabout at around 10pm.
Prior to police arriving a number of cars collided with the tank which was carrying a substantial amount of diesel fuel. Some of this fuel eventually spilled onto the road causing a major traffic headache for police.
Road diversions were immediately put in place but by early Tuesday morning all roads were passable following a clear up operation by the DoE.
It is believed the lorry was abandoned because the fuel was illegal.
Anyone who may have seen the incident occur is asked to contact police on 028 3026 5500.
