East Belfast Crash Victim Now Critical

Police are renewing their appeal for information on a serious road accident in east Belfast that left a schoolgirl critically ill.

The teenager, believed to be a sixth form student from a local school, was hit by a car on the Upper Newtownards Road at about 08:40 on Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at the junction of the Sandown Road and Knock Road.

It is understood the girl is now in a critical condition in hospital.

A man in his 30s arrested in connection with the incident has been released pending further inquiries.

Anyone who was in the area around the time of incident is urged to contact police.

Serious Road Crash In L'Derry
A serious road crash has occurred on the Chapel Road in L'Derry. A car and a motorbike where involved in the incident, according to the police. One man, believed to be a teenager, has been taken to hospital where his injuries are believed to be serious. The road has been closed at its junctions with Newlyn Terrace and Spencer Road.

Man Dies In Workplace Accident In Co Armagh
A man has died in a workplace accident in Co Armagh. It is believed the man was crushed by a road roller while a new road surface was being laid on the Bog Road, Forkhill, on Wednesday, 31 May. Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation.
