Two Security Alerts In L'Derry's Waterside

Army bomb officers carried out two separate security alerts in L'Derry on Thursday.

Two pipe bombs were discovered by police in the Waterside area – on Trafalgar Court and Jeffrey Avenue.

A number of homes at both sites were evacuated as army bomb experts examined the devices.

The devices were later removed and the scenes declared safe.

The PSNI are investigating.

Two Pipe Bombs Found During L'Derry Security Alert
Two viable pipe bombs have been discovered during a security alert in Co L'Derry. A number of residents were evacuated from their homes during the alert, and the Rossdowney Road was closed on Monday, 13 November. The road has since been re-opened.

PSNI 'Inaction' Endangers Residents - SF
Sinn Féin's Sean Lynch has said the lives of residents in Fermanagh are being endangered by militants and PSNI "inaction". The comments come as police confirm a security alert in the village of Donagh, County Fermanagh, was a "deliberate hoax". Roads have now been reopened following an examination by army bomb experts.

Suspect devices intercepted in post
Four hoax devices addressed to district policing partnership members have been intercepted at a postal sorting office in Co Antrim. A worker at the Royal Mail sorting office in Mallusk is believed to have discovered a suspicious package at about 9.30pm on Monday.

Suspect devices cause traffic chaos
A number of security alerts have caused traffic chaos in the greater Belfast area on Friday. Suspect devices were found at Holywood and Sydenham which led to the closure of the Belfast to Bangor railway line as well as part of the Sydenham bypass.

Viable Pipe Bomb Found In North Belfast
A viable pipe bomb has been found in north Belfast, police have confirmed. Police and army bomb experts discovered the device in the garden of a house in Shore Crescent on Monday. The pipe bomb has been removed for further examination. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
