Shankill families evacuated from homes due to nearby fire

Around 40 people have had to spend a night out of their homes following a fire at a lock-up garage in the Shankill area of west Belfast.

The fire led to gas cylinders in the garage overheating to the point firefighters feared they could explode.

Water has been poured on the two oxyacetylene tanks in the hope of cooling them down, however this process will have to continue for 24 hours.

The cylinders were found by fire crews as they extinguished the blaze in Dunmoyle.
