Man Fined Over Fisheries Offences

A man has been fined after being convicted of two charges in relation to fisheries offences at Fermanagh Magistrates' Court.

Gabriel McBarron of Derrin Road, Enniskillen, was convicted on two charges.

The first was possession of fish of unlawful capture, for which he was given a fine of £20 and ordered to pay costs of £500.

On the second charge of using an unlawful method of angling, he was given a conditional discharge.

The offences occurred at Mill Lough, Ballanleck, Co Fermanagh.

Woman Convicted Over £100k Benefit Fraud

A woman has been convicted at Antrim Crown Court for claiming over £100,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.

34-year-old Diane Major of Bellevue Place, Ballynure, County Antrim, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £100,942.13 whilst failing to declare she was living with her partner.

She was sentenced to two years' probation and 100 hours of community service.

Men Charged Over Drugs Offences

Police have charged two men with drugs offences after stopping a car that was driving erratically in Portrush, County Antrim.

An 18 and a 23-year-old man were detained in the Dunluce Road area on Tuesday morning.

They will face a series of charges when they appear before Antrim Magistrates’ Court later.

Charges include possession of class B drugs and possession of class B drugs with intent to supply. Searches revealed revealed suspected cannabis and tablets with an estimated value of around £2,500.

The 18-year-old man has also been charged with several driving offences.

£75k Funding For L'Derry Street Upgrades

Funding of £75,000 for a public realm scheme in the Limavady Road area of L'Derry has been announced.

The project will include upgrades to paving and street lighting from the junction at Glendermott Road to the entrance at Foyle Fold residential accommodation.

The project will be delivered by Transport NI. Work began over the weekend. It is expected that work will take about three weeks to complete.

Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy said: "These works will help deliver significant improvements to the infrastructure of the Waterside area and will provide a high quality pedestrian link to both Ebrington and the Peace Bridge."

Willie Frazer Arrested For Bail Breach
Prominent loyalist campaigner Willie Frazer has been arrested for breaching his bail conditions. The 52-year-old was arrested on Monday at about 19:30 in the Portadown area. He is expected to appear in court today. Bail conditions were imposed following charges linked to union flag protests earlier in the year.

Man Charged With Manslaughter
A man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a 51-year-old man in Newry. The man died in the Dublin Road area on Wednesday, 17 January. The 32-year-old suspect has also been charged with drugs offences including possession of heroin with intent to supply. He is due to appear before Newry Magistrates Court on Thursday, 18 January.

Three Men Charged After Firearm Discovered In Co Fermanagh
Three men have been charged after police discovered a firearm during the search of a car in Co Fermanagh. The weapon was found after the PSNI stopped a vehicle on the Dublin Road in Enniskillen on Friday, 03 March.
