£140k To Revitalise Ballyclare
Funding of £140,000 has been announced to revitalise Ballyclare town centre in County Antrim.
Social Development Minister Mervyn Storey announced the funding following a meeting with members of Ballyclare Chamber of Trade.
Minister Storey said: "Local businesses are the lifeblood of every town. That is why I have approved further revitalisation funding to help support traders and property owners in Ballyclare. This will enable them to carry out a broad range of external improvements to shop fronts and gable walls.
"Ballyclare was granted £150,000 in 2013, which has proven very effective in making buildings and shops much more attractive, and in tackling dereliction. This funding was particularly well received by local traders and requests were made to fund areas of the town not covered by the initial scheme."
The Mayor of Newtownabbey, Alderman Thomas Hogg said: "The Council welcomes this investment in Ballyclare which will make the town centre more attractive for shoppers and provide a boost for businesses in the town. Vibrant town centres are essential for sustaining businesses and ensuring local residents can shop locally.
"We are delighted that this scheme will complement the works which the Council is currently undertaking in The Square and we look forward to working with the Department to continue to deliver the priorities within the Newtownabbey Regeneration Strategy."
