Tralee To Benefit From Capital Investment Programme

Labour party TD Arthur J Spring has welcomed the Government's announcement of its five-year Action Plan for Jobs regional strategy, which will accelerate the jobs recovery in all parts of the country.

The Action Plan for Jobs regional strategy encourages communities and organisations in each region to develop new plans and projects to stimulate job creation with the backing of €250m funding from the government.

Deputy Spring said: "I welcome this investment announcement as it will promote job creation in Kerry. I have worked continuously since being elected to ensure the county was included in the redrawing of the regional aid map in July 2014 and as a result, we are now in a more competitive position in Kerry.

"Following 14 years of the county being in a position of disadvantage, Kerry is now able to offer the maximum amount of grants to attract investment. The combination of the entitlement to maximum grant status and today's capital programme for investment has positioned us as to become a more attractive proposition for investors for the first time in over a decade.

"Tralee will benefit directly from the five-year €250million capital investment programme to help attract more multinational jobs into the town. The funding will permit the building of advance manufacturing and office facilities for potential investors.

"Multinational Companies are looking for turn-key premises as getting involved in property development and adaption is not their core competency.

"The Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation will work with each region to identify their core strengths, assets, position of competitive advantage and possible underdeveloped potential strategies to aid business development in the areas. The developed strategy will determine the type of facilities to be built."
