Police Station Alert Discovered To Be A Hoax

A security alert has ended after a suspicious object found in a car close to an east Belfast police station was declared an "elaborate hoax".

Residents in the Woodstock Road area had to evacuate their homes at about 21:00 on Sunday evening, while nearby Church services were also interrupted. Many roads in the area were closed off as a result of the alert.

Army bomb disposal experts were called to examine the object and found it to be a hoax. The security alert ended at about 03:00 on Monday morning.

All roads have since been reopened and residents have been allowed to return to their homes.
