Mayor Praises 'Belfast's Generosity To The 4 Corners Of The World'

Belfast Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon has recognised the life-changing work carried out by local aid agencies around the world.

The 'Belfast's Generosity to the 4 Corners of the World' event held in City Hall as part of the '4 Corners Festival', shone a light on 10 non-profit and charitable organisations and their inspirational achievements.

Councillor Mallon presented 'Unsung Hero' awards to individuals from the various organisations – Fields of Life, Trocaire, Christian Aid, Habitat NI, Children of the Nations, Saphara, Oxfam Ireland, International Justice Mission, Tear Fund and Concern – whose efforts and generosity too often go unnoticed.

She said: "The contribution of our NGOs is felt by the thousands of vulnerable people across the four corners of the world whose lives they transform.

"I am delighted that their efforts and generosity are being brought under the spotlight and on behalf of the people of Belfast I am presenting them with my 'Unsung Hero' award to show appreciation and give the recognition they so richly deserve.

"The generosity of the people of Belfast knows no bounds and this is evident when we hear of the wonderful and compassionate works these organisations do day and daily."
