CUBIS Industries Secures UAE Contract
Lurgan-based firm CUBIS Industries has secured a "significant" export contract in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The news was announced by Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster, following the end of a trade mission to the Middle East.
The six-figure contract in Abu Dhabi will see CUBIS provide systems to be used in the revamp of the telecommunications network.
Minister Foster commented: "This is an immensely important contract which will allow CUBIS to make a substantial contribution to a project to develop a new and highly sophisticated telecoms system in the UAE.
"The contract is also a tremendous boost for manufacturing in Northern Ireland and puts this progressive company in a strong position to secure further business in other parts of the Emirates as the new telecoms system is rolled out in Abu Dhabi and across the region.
"It's also in a new business sector for the company, which in the past has supplied products for irrigation systems in Dubai and to the oil industry in neighbouring Oman. The new contract is a further example of the scale of business opportunities in the UAE for Northern Ireland companies prepared to invest in growth in global markets."
Cian Cantwell, CUBIS Director of International Sales, added: "This is tremendously encouraging business for us in a different sector. The business was secured following our participation with Invest NI at the GITEX 2014 technology trade show in Dubai last October.
"It was an immensely positive show for us. We benefited enormously from the advice, experience and very practical support from the Invest NI team in Dubai before, during and in the months following the exhibition.
"We see the new business as an important reference site for our products, experience and expertise for other potential clients in the UAE and many other international markets."
