Cash award on offer for forward-thinking group
A cash boost of £2,500 is on the table for the community or voluntary organisation that can come up with the best plan to help them achieve long-term sustainability.
The money is the award being offered this year by the Ulster Bank Sir George Quigley Award Fund which is now open for applications.
The Fund is an annual award that aims to help the community and voluntary sector achieve long-term sustainability for their work. It is open to organisations working either within Northern Ireland, the Republic, or on a cross-border basis.
Last year’s winners were the Kilkeel Parish Bridge Association with 'Jim's Project', a youth group set up for children in the Kilkeel area. The group provides a series of events and activities ranging from after schools computers clubs and music or dance classes to summer schemes, snooker, Playstation and table football.

Dodds announces extra help for “most needy" in society
The Minister for Social Development, Nigel Dodds, has announced a further £1.73 million cash injection for the Northern Ireland Social fund. The increase brings the Social Fund, which helps the most needy people in society up to a total to £51 million for the next year.

Quesnele To Join Belfast Giants For 2016/17 Elite League Season
Michael Quesnele is to join the Belfast Giants for the 2016/17 Elite League season. The Canadian holds Italian Citizenship and takes the Giants final EU spot on the lineup. He spent the 2015/16 season with the Coventry Blaze, where Quesnele posted nine goals and 16 assists, good for 25 points in 60 games played.
