Exploris Looks After Loggerhead Turtle
Exploris Aquarium are caring for a loggerhead turtle that washed up on a beach in Co Donegal.
The Portaferry aquarium said the turtle is being treated for hypothermia. It is believed the loggerhead, which has been named Columba, may have been blown off course, from warmer water in the Gulf Stream into colder waters of the North Atlantic.
Exploris said that it had been twenty years since it last looked after a loggerhead turtle, and they hoped Columba would recover as soon as its temperature had stabilised.
