4,500 Houses Without Water

Up to 4,500 properties are still without water following a disruption to the service, NI Water said.

The agency has blamed the disruption to customers' supplies due to "ongoing industrial action" currently being undertaken by its workers.

Water Treatment Works are being attended to and will be brought back into service as soon as possible, NI Water said.

Areas that may be affected include: Ederney, Kesh, Lack, Castlederg, Killen, Killeter, Spamount, Irvinestown, Dromore (Tyrone), Drumquin, Omagh (rural) and Trillick.

NI Water said it would be providing alternative supplies. For more information visit www.niwater.com or by calling 08457 440088.

"NI Water remains on high alert with a Major Incident regime in place and we are committed to continued engagement with Trade Unions in an effort to resolve this dispute," a statement said. "The company would stress once more the key demand that pension reform be delayed is not within its gift to provide. It believes dialogue rather than causing disruption represents the best way forward."
