Belfast-Set Short Film Nominated For An Oscar

A short film set in 1970s Belfast has been nominated for an Oscar in the live action short category.

Boogaloo and Graham, directed by Michael Lennox, is about two young boys who discover the facts of life with the help of their pet chickens.

Written by Ronan Blaney, the film stars Belfast actor Martin McCann and Charlene McKenna.

This year's Academy awards ceremony will be held on Sunday 22 February at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Pathologist Software Company Announces 32 Jobs

PathXL, which produces software for pathologists, has announced the creation of 32 jobs in Belfast.

The company will create the jobs over the next three years as part of £390,000 expansion plan, which is being supported by Invest NI.

The investment is aimed at driving international sales of PathXL's award-winning tumour detection software TissueMark.

270 Arrested For Drink-Driving Related Offences Over Festive Period

The PSNI have revealed that they made 270 arrested for drink-driving related offences over the Christmas period.

The number rose by 12 for the period of 27 November and 02 January, compared to the same time in the previous year.

Police say the youngest person arrested was 17 and the oldest was 71.
