Extra Time Granted For Randalstown Murder Investigation
Detectives investigating the murder of Nelson Cheung have been granted extra time to question five people currently in custody.
Those currently detained include a 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl.
At about 00:10 in the early hours of Thursday 8 January, 65-year-old Nelson Cheung and his 57-year-old wife Winnie were driving along the Caddy Road, having finished work at their business in Randalstown. It is believed that their vehicle was forced off the road by two other vehicles and they were approached by a number of people.
The pair were attacked and a sum of cash was taken from them. Mr Cheung died at the scene as a result of stab wounds.
Mrs Cheung then ran for help to a house in the Caddy Road area of Randalstown and called the police.
Det Ch Insp Eamon Corrigan said: "We have been granted extra time to question two females, aged 16 and 32, and three males, aged 14, 32 and 33."
Police have appealed for information from the public, specifically anyone who saw vehicles moving along Caddy Road between 23:30 on Wednesday night and 01:00 on Thursday morning.
The PSNI would also like to speak to anyone who may have noticed a black Seat Toledo car, registration number OE62 FRF, in the Randalstown area from around 21:00 to midnight on Wednesday 07 January.
Anyone with information can contact Detectives at a special incident room in Ballymena PSNI station on the non-emergency number 101 or via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
