Sydney Punch Victim Regains Consciousness

A man from Ballycastle in County Antrim who was critically injured after being allegedly punched by his older brother in Sydney, Australia, has woken from his coma, according to Australian media.

31-year-old Patrick Lyttle is thought to have regained conciousness at St Vincent's Hospital early on Friday morning, Australian time.

Mr Lyttle was knocked to the footpath and suffered a serious head injury during an incident in the Bayswater Road, Kings Cross area of the city in the early hours of Saturday.

He underwent emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain earlier this week.

His 33-year-old brother Barry Lyttle was arrested at the scene, but was given bail on Monday after his appearance at Central Local Court. He has been ordered by police to surrender his passport and is not allowed to consume alcohol within 12 hours of visiting his brother. He is due to appear in court again on 20 January.
