Minister Launches Integrated Development Framework
Social Development Minister Mervyn Storey has launched the newly completed Integrated Development Framework for the urban area of the Castlereagh Borough.
The framework document sets out a coherent future vision for the urban areas within the Castlereagh Borough and identifies key regeneration concepts for the future development of the area as a thriving, enterprising and competitive district.
Minister Storey visited the Castlereagh Council Offices to meet those involved in the development of the framework.
Minister Storey said: "In the current challenging economic times, now is the right time to set out how Castlereagh plans to grow and prosper for coming generations. The regeneration process mapped out in this new plan launched today will help lead Castlereagh towards a new vibrant and exciting future, providing a clear image of how the borough can utilise its best features and ensure its continuing success and prosperity.
"Proposals in the framework document will take time to implement. Success will depend on a lot of hard work, persistence and a willingness to work in partnership to achieve results. The publishing of this document today is good news for the borough; it provides opportunities for regeneration and development which will assist in attracting investors, traders, employers and visitors to the area. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank all the people that played a part in its development."
