One Hundred New Garda Recruits Begin Training

A further one hundred new garda recruits have begun their training at Templemore College, joining 100 that began earlier this year and ahead of another 100 due to start early next year.

Welcoming the news, Fine Gael Cork North West TD, Aine Collins, said: "It is great to see 100 new Garda recruits start their training in Templemore today. Templemore College had closed its doors for five years, with no recruitment at all taking place until this Government restarted the process.

"The Minister has stated that she will continue to monitor Garda staffing levels during 2015 with a view to agreeing further intakes to the Garda College as required."
