Medi-Shower Scoops Top UK Award
Medi-Shower, a complete anti-microbial system designed specifically for healthcare facilities by Claudy-based Multishower GB, has won a top UK award for infection prevention.
The company, which has already grown pre-production sales of the product to over £100,000 to UK health sector clients, gained the award for 'Best Product for Enhancing Infection Prevention' in the UK's Building Better Healthcare Awards. Full production is scheduled to start later this month.
The innovative product, developed with R&D support from Invest Northern Ireland, has also been included in a major European healthcare industry catalogue. Medi-Shower used an Invest NI R&D grant to develop the unique anti-bacterial showerhead and hose.
Invest NI's R&D grants are part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
The company also used Invest NI Innovation Vouchers in the initial development of the product and technical guidance on intellectual property protection.
Mulitshower's success was welcomed by Carol Keery, Invest NI Director of Research and Development.
Mrs Keery said: "This an important healthcare industry award that will assist the company in boosting sales of an innovative product with immense potential within a global industry that's now seeking innovative measures to prevent infection.
"It's a tremendous endorsement of the technology this small company is pioneering with assistance from a range of Invest NI programmes. What the company now has to focus on is the conversion of this endorsement into greater sales of the shower system within the healthcare sector in Great Britain and global markets.
"Invest NI will continue to work closely with the company as it seeks to realise the obvious commercial potential of this highly innovative product."
