Convicted Murderer Fails To Return To Prison
A 51-year-old convicted murderer is on the run after he failed to return to Maghaberry Prison following home leave.
William Sloan was jailed in 1989 for the murder of 39-year-old James Hamilton.
He was released on licence in 1999, however this was revoked in 2006 after Sloan committed further offences, including arson and breaching a non-molestation order.
It is understood that he was due to return to Maghaberry from home leave on 21 November, but he did not.
A statement from the Northern Ireland Prison Service said that they were working with the PSNI to locate Mr Sloan and return him to custody.
Sloan is described as around 5ft 9" in height, of medium build with brown eyes and grey hair.
He has a number of tattoos on his arms and hands.

A 53-year-old has reportedly died in custody at Maghaberry Prison, the Northern Ireland Prison Service has announced. The Department of Justice has reported that the prisoner died on Saturday 28 August, that his next of kin have been informed and that the death was not covid related.

A 22-year-old man has died while in custody at Maghaberry Prison, the Northern Ireland Prison Service has reported. The Department of Justice has confirmed that the man died in custody on the morning of Thursday, 30 August. The man's next of kin have been informed. The PSNI, Coroner and Prisoner Ombudsman have been informed about the death.

Staff at Maghaberry Prison in Lisburn have been criticised after they failed to intervene while a prisoner blinded himself, according to a Prison Ombudsman report. Sean Lynch, 23, was being detained at the prison in June 2014 and inflicted "extreme and shocking" injuries through self-harm over a three day period.

Maghaberry Prison Officers Return To Work
A number of prison officers have returned to work at Maghaberry Prison, Co Antrim, after initially refusing to start work this morning, 04 November. According to the BBC, around 80 staff were involved in the industrial action. They were due to commence work between 7.30am and 8am, but held a meeting instead.
