PSNI Warning Over Black Market Drugs

The police and the Department of Health have warned the public regarding black market prescription drugs, following the theft of a quantity of prescription medicines.

The drugs are oval in shape and are marked with 'KAP' on one side and 'AKE' on the reverse.

The public have been warned to be vigilant and to ensure they do not put their health at risk by purchasing medication from an illicit source. The medicines involved are potent and are subject to abuse.

Armagh Haulier Convicted Of Forgery

A County Armagh haulier has been sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment suspended for three years for forgery.

John Francis Murray, Managing Director of M&S Freight Forwarding Limited, 75 Derrynoose Road, Keady, was convicted of forgery at Newry Crown Court.

Mr Murray pleaded guilty to one charge of forgery and four charges of conspiracy to commit forgery.

The charges related to a joint investigation conducted by the Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA) and PSNI, between April 2012 and September 2012.

Following the inspection of three vehicles used by the company it was discovered that tachograph (speedometer) manipulation devices had been used to interfere with the data.

A confiscation order in relation to the assets of Mr Murray will be heard at a later date.

South Belfast Alert 'Nothing Untoward'

A security alert in south Belfast has ended after suspicious items were declared as "nothing untoward".

Homes were evacuated on the Donegall Road on Wednesday evening.

Army bomb disposal experts attended the scene and took the items away for examination. The alert then ended about 23:00 and all residents were allowed to return to their homes.

Man Arrested Over Co. Down Arson Attacks

A man has been arrested by police investigating arson attacks in County Down.

The 49-year-old man was detained over 20 offences of conspiracy to commit arson and two offences of arson carried out in the Banbridge area.

He was arrested in the Ashleigh Crescent area of Lurgan, County Armagh, on Thursday.

Man Arrested In Connection With Suspected Arson In Limavady
A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a suspected arson attack at a block of flats in Limavady. At around 3.30am on Thursday, 20 July, police received a report that an oil tank at the block in the Glenview Drive area was on fire.

PSNI Appeal For Information After Cars Set Alight In North Belfast
The PSNI have appealed for information after four cars were set alight in north Belfast. Police say the suspected arson attack happened at around 22:30 on Tuesday night on the Whitewell Road. It is understood no one was injured in the incidents.

More Arrests Over Quinn Killing
Three more men have been arrested in connection with the murder of south Armagh man Paul Quinn. The men from the Forkhill and Crossmaglen areas were arrested on Thursday morning. A number of items have also been removed for examination in what police said this afternoon is the second phase of a "targeted operation" in south Armagh.

Two Men Arrested Over Several Arson Attacks In Co Armagh
Two men have been arrested in connection with a number of arson attacks and robberies in County Armagh. Searches were carried out by police in Princess Way, Loughgall Road, Greenpark in Markethill and West Street in Portadown on Thursday. Computer equipment, phones and cash were seized during the searches.

Man With 472 Convictions Jailed
A man reported to have 472 criminal convictions has been jailed at a court in L’Derry. 39-year-old Eamon Lynch, from Wesley Street in L’Derry, admitted to charges of road offences in the city in 2010. Mr Lynch’s solicitor claimed his client has the biggest criminal record in British and Irish judicial history.
