Ballymena Security Alert Ends

Controlled explosions have been carried out by a bomb squad in Ballymena, County Antrim, after a suspicious device was found under a car.

A security alert was declared in the town after the object was discovered below the vehicle, when it was placed on a lift at a garage.

Police and Army technical officers attended the scene in the Pennybridge Industrial Estate on Wednesday morning.

A number of business premises were evacuated and two controlled explosions were carried out.

The alert has now ended and police have confirmed that the suspicious object was not an explosive device.

A controlled explosion has been carried out on a viable incendiary device discovered on the grounds of Ballycastle Police Station, Co Antrim. A second device found has been declared a hoax. They were discovered on the Ramoan Road on Thursday morning. A number of businesses were forced to close during the alert, however they have now reopened.

Viable Device Found During Security Alert In L'Derry
A viable device has been found during a security left in Co L'Derry. Residents had to be evacuated from their homes in the Gelvin Gardens area on Sunday after a suspicious object was discovered. The device has been made safe and has been seized for forensic examination.

Security Alert In Carrickfergus
A suspicious object has been found at a house in Carrickfergus. The property, in the Larne Road area, sparked a security alert on Wednesday morning. Police and army bomb experts attended the scene. They examined the device, declared it to be viable and made it safe. The alert has ended and Larne Road has since reopened to traffic.

Latest Newry Bomb Alert Ends
A security alert in Newry, the second in the city in two days, has ended. Police were investigating a suspicious object in the grounds of St Mary's Church, but said "nothing untoward" was found. Several homes had been evacuated due to a bomb alert in Newry - the second in 24 hours.
