Pair Arrested Over Attempted Bomb Attack On Police
Police have arrested two men as part of investigations into an attempted bomb attack on officers in Strabane in County Tyrone.
Officers were lured to the Ballycolman estate on 23 October to investigate a report that a bomb had been thrown at a police patrol vehicle the night before.
But the alert was a hoax and a real bomb that had been packed with nails was discovered in the garden of a house in the area.
Over 130 schoolchildren and a group of householders were moved while it the device was defused by the Army.
A number of houses were searched and two cars were seized by police this morning.
Two men, aged 29 and 43, are being questioned at Antrim PSNI station.

A spate of bomb attacks over the weekend has been condemned by the First and deputy First Minister and parties across the political spectrum. A police patrol was attacked with a pipe bomb in County Tyrone on Saturday. A security alert began in the Ballycolman estate, Strabane, at about 20:25, following news that something had been thrown at police.

Four people arrested over an attempted under-car bomb attack on a police officer have been released unconditionally. The device was placed under a car in Eglinton, L'Derry, on 18 June 2015.
