Investigation Launches Into Fatal L'Derry House Fire

An investigation has been launched in L'Derry following the death of a man in a house fire on Upper Bennett Street.

Emergency services were called to reports of a house fire at about 8am on Sunday morning.

Fire crews found the man in the house, and despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is understood that a neighbour had tried to rescue the man from the house but was unable to reach him.

A forensic examination of the scene was carried out on Sunday and police say that their investigation is ongoing.

Fatal House Fire In Newtownards
A woman in her 30s has died in a fire at a house in Newtownards, Co. Down. The fire occurred at a house in Ilex Avenue at around 5.30pm and the woman is reported to have died at the scene. An investigation into the circumstances of the death is being conducted by police who have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Investigation Launched After Body Found At Scene Of House Fire
An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a woman's body at the scene of a house fire in south Belfast. Police said the body of a woman was found after a fire in a house in the Archdale Drive area of the Belvoir Estate in south Belfast on Sunday 03 January.  Police received a report of the fire shortly after 2pm.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Man Dies In L'Derry House Fire
An investigation has been launched following the death of an elderly man in a house fire in L'Derry. Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at a house in the Earhart Park area of the city early this morning. Five people were rescued from the property. A man, aged in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
