Mike Nesbitt Will Not Stand In Westminster Elections

Mike Nesbitt, the leader of the Ulster Unionist party, has confirmed that he will not stand in next year's Westminster elections.

It follows speculation that the Strangford MLA would stand either South or East Belfast.

Mr Nesbitt said: "The soundings I've taken to date with senior members, including party officers, is that they'd rather have me leading the party here at Stormont than competing to be an MP."

He also confirmed his wife Lynda Bryans will not stand.
