£1m Construction Work Begins At Desertmartin
Construction has begun on the A29 Tobermore Road, Desertmartin near Magherafelt in County L'Derry at a cost of £1m.
Work is expected to begin mid November and to take 18 weeks to complete. It will include the the reconstruction of some 1,150metres of carriageway, widened to 9.3metres between Quarry Road and Drumsaney Road.
"Mary Lou McDonald Suspended From Dáil
Sinn Féin deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald has been suspended from the Dáil for refusing to take her seat.
The move followed a question by Ms McDonald to Tánaiste Joan Burton on the new and controversial water charges that have been recently brought in in the Republic Of Ireland.
But the Sinn Féin deputy refused to sit down at the end of her allocated time and was asked to leave the chamber.
Members voted to suspend her and the sitting will be suspended at 17:30 as a result.
Traffic Warning Ahead Of Christmas Tree Switch-On
Belfast City Council has warned the public to be aware of busy traffic around City Hall on Saturday evening due to the turning on of the Christmas tree lights.
Popular children's TV characters Ben and Holly will join Lord Mayor, Nichola Mallon, to switch on Belfast’s Christmas Lights.
The event starts at 18:45, with roads around the City Hall closing from 17:30. Large numbers of pedestrians are expected in the area around City Hall.
The Council said one lane in Donegall Square North will be closed throughout the day. Wellington Place, Donegall Square North and Chichester Street will be closed to through traffic, as will Donegall Place from 17:30.
O'Dowd Launches Irish Medium Youth Work Report
Education Minister John O'Dowd has launched Fóram na nÓg's report on Irish medium youth work.
The report will work to explore Irish-medium youth work in Northern Ireland and offer recommendations for its development.
Speaking at the event today at Stormont, the Minister said: "Youth work provision supports self-expression and provides opportunities for young people to enjoy and develop their Irish language knowledge and skills in an informal setting. This helps them gain confidence and play a real and active part in the wider Gaeltacht community."

The Pride of Place competition was initiated 15 years ago through a Co-operation Ireland programme to acknowledge the invaluable work undertaken by volunteers and those involved in local community development.

Refurbishment Work Completed At Conway Youth Centre
Refurbishment work has been completed at the Conway Youth Centre in the Greater Shankill area. Social Development Minister, Nelson McCausland has visited the new centre, where a total of £244,132 has been spent transforming the building.
