Ammunition Uncovered In North Belfast House

200 rounds of ammunition have been uncovered from a house in north Belfast.

Officers uncovered the items from a house in the Duncairn Parade area yesterday. The ammunition has been taken away for examination.

Deadline Looms For Belfast Met Bursary

Belfast City Council is encouraging students from Belfast Met wishing to apply for a bursary to submit their applications by 16:00 on Friday 14 November.

The council has invested £300,000 in Achieve through its Investment Programme to support young people in the city into further education, training or employment from 2012-2015.

The students must be enrolled on a course "linked to key growth areas" such as IT, engineering, multimedia, science, renewable energy, tourism and hospitality.

Funding decisions will be made in December, with the first payments made to students in January 2015.

Belfast Mayor Portrait Unveiled

A new portrait of former Belfast Lord Mayor Máirtín Ó Muilleoir, painted by well Dublin artist Robert Ballagh, has been unveiled.

The portrait is diamond shaped and depicts the Sinn Féin politician wearing running gear without his chain of office.

The former Mayor gave up his seat on Belfast City Council to become an MLA at Stormont. He said: "I wanted a piece which, while offbeat, echoes the vibrancy and fun of Belfast and speaks to the momentum and drive which a mayor needs equally to run the city or run the towpath.

"I also pay homage to the wonderful Northern Ireland Hospice, where my father died 10 years ago this week, by wearing a tee-shirt they presented to me."

Escaped Teenager Found

A teenager who escaped from police custody in Dungiven, County L'Derry, has been found, police said.

The 15-year-old ran from a police vehicle that was parked on the Glenshane Road, at about 16:25 on Monday evening.

He was found by officers at a shop in Broad Street, Magherafelt at about 11:00 on Tuesday morning.

He was arrested on suspicion of theft, being unlawfully at large and assault.

Lord Mayor Invites Belfast to 'Look Up' For Carnival Fun
Belfast's Lord Mayor, Councillor Naomi Long, is inviting the people of the city to 'Look Up' at the stars. The Belfast City Carnival will help celebrate the International Year of Astronomy, when one of the highlights of the city`s cultural calendar takes to the streets on Saturday 27 June.
